How to calculate the volume of slump mould

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial is recorded to teach you how to compute the concrete volume by applying slump test mould.

Concrete slump test is undertaken to verify the feasibility or stability of concrete of fresh concrete or concrete mix formed at the laboratory or the construction jobsite prior to setting of concrete. Concrete slump test is accomplished from batch to batch to determine the undeviating quality of concrete throughout construction.

It is also utilized as a sign of an inappropriately mixed batch. The test is mostly recognized because of the ease of tools applied and uncomplicated method. The slump test is useful for confirming consistency for different loads of concrete under field conditions.

The slump test is treated as the most easy workability test toward concrete that offers low cost and instant results. Because of it, it has been extensively applied for workability tests since 1922. The slump is done following the methods described in ASTM C143 in the United States, IS: 1199 – 1959 in India and EN 12350-2 in Europe.

Usually concrete slump value is utilized for determining the workability, which specifies water-cement ratio, but there exist different factors ranging from properties of materials, mixing methods, dosage, admixtures etc. which can impact the concrete slump value.

To learn the detailed process, watch the following video.
