How to determine unit weight of steel per meter

Construction Software

In this construction video tutorial you will come to know the detailed process for determining the unit weight of steel per meter.

To do this, the following formulas are used :-

We know the density of steel is 7850 kg/m2

Here, the length of the steel is taken as 1 meter

The diameter of the steel is taken as 12 mm or 0.012 meter

Unit Weight Of Steel = L(Length) x A(Area) x Density Of Steel

The following formula is used to find out the area :-

A = πD2/4 = 3.142 (0.012)2/4 = 0.000113112

Unit Weight = 1 x 0.000113112 x 7850 = 0.88 Kg/m

The unit weight can also be determined with another formula :-

D2/162 = 12 x 12 = 162 = 0.88 Kg/mm
