Construction process & details of reinforcement in column footing

Construction Software

In this civil engineering tutorial, you will get reinforcement details of column footing.

Prior to set up footing, 4 inches PCC bed should be provided. Then covering should be given to all sides with 3 inches thickness to safeguard the reinforcement from rust and provide fire resistance to bars.

After that 4 inches cover block should be provided for the mesh to raise the rebar matrix off the ground in order that concrete can flow below the rebar as well as the erosion of the rebar can be resisted.

The pit size should be 4 feet by 4 feet. It is based on foundation.

The dimension of footing should be as follow:

Length of footing = 4 feet
Breadth of footing = 4 feet
Depth of footing = 1 feet 6 inches

Details of mesh reinforcement:

Size of bar – 10 mm
Spacing among bars @6” center to center
L shaped bend = 4 inches (it is based on corner column)

Reinforcement details of column:

The bars with diameter 12 mm and 16 mm should be used in columns
The dimension of lateral ties should be #8 mm dia @6”/7”/8” center to center.
The covering for reinforcement in column should be 40 mm
L-bend should be provided with sizes ranging from 12 inches, 15 inches, 18 inches etc.
