How to calculate weight of steel in kg per meter

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial will show the detailed process for computing weight of steel with different diameters.

You have to work out the weight of steel based on the various diameters like 8 mm, 10 mm, 12 mm, 16 mm, 26 mm.

We know, density of steel = 7850 Kg/m3

To find out weight of steel, you have to use the following formula :-

Area of steel x Density of steel

In order to get weight of one meter steel in Kg, apply the following formula :-

D2 /162 = 8 x 8/162 = 64/162 = 0.395 Kg/m

To convert 1 millimeter to meter, just divide it by 1000 i.e. to covert 8mm = 8/1000 = 0.008 m

πD2/4 = 3.142 (0.008 x 0.008)/4 = 0.000502722

0.00050272 x 7850 = 0.395 Kg/m
