How to Calculate Bricks for Wall

Construction Software

In this civil engineering article, you will learn how to work out the number of bricks in a brick wall.

Go through the following steps for making calculation :-

Suppose, the volume of the brick wall is taken as 10 cubic meter, the thickness of mortar is taken as 10 mm and the size of brick exclusive of mortar = Length x Breadth x Height = 190 mm x 90 mm x 90 mm. (standard measuring unit is mm)

Now, size of brick inclusive of mortar will be changed to 200 mm x 100 mm x 100 mm.

Now, it is required to determine the volume of each brick with mortar as follow :-

Length x Breadth x Height = 200 x 100 x 100 = 0.2 x 0.1 x 0.1 (the measuring unit is converted to meter)

= 0.002 cubic meter

So, volume of each brick = 0.002 cubic meter

Now, it is required to determine the number of bricks in the wall with the following formula :-

No. of bricks = Volume of wall / Volume of each brick with moatar

= 10 / 0.002 = 5000 numbers

So, in a brick wall with volume 10 cubic meter, the total numbers of bricks required = 5000
