How to determine the shuttering quantity of column & beam

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial is based on the calculation method of shuttering for column and beam.

If any RCC work or building work is going, you will learn how to determine the quantity of shuttering in square meter to that specific area.

Suppose the cross section of the column is given as follow :-

The dimension is 300 x 200 mm or 0.3 x 0.2 meter and the length is 3 meter.

The following formula is used to find out the shuttering quantity of the column :-

Width of column x height of column x similar face
Suppose the column is divided as side A and side B.
Initially, it is required to find out the size of column A.
Side A = Width x Length x Number of face

After putting the values, we get the following :-

Side A = 0.3 x 3 x 2 = 1.8 sqm (opposite of A, there is another side with same dimension)

Side B = 0.2 x 3 x 2 = 1.2 sqm
So, the entire shuttering area for column = 1.8 + 1.2 = 3 sqm.
In this way, the shuttering can be calculated for rectangular or square column.

The shuttering quantity of rectangular beam will be calculated as follow :-

Suppose, the width is taken as 0.4 m
Length is taken as 4 meter
Size of one side of beam = width x length x similar face

After putting all the values, we get the following result :-

Side = 0.4 x 4 x 2 = 3.2 sqm.
Bottom = 0.22 x 4 = 0.88 sqm (width = 0.22 m)

Total shuttering area = 3.2 + 0.88 = 4.08 sqm
