How to evaluate the grade of sands at construction site

Construction Software

In this construction video tutorial, you will learn the process to check the grade of sands in the construction site. In a construction site, different types of sands like medium, course and fine are supplied.

These sands can be utilized for concrete or plastering work. The quality engineer should verify the quality of sand prior to use it on the jobsite. The checking process is done through sieve analysis.

A sieve analysis alias gradation test refers to a practice or method that is employed (generally recognized in civil engineering) to evaluate the particle size distribution (also known as gradation) of a granular material.

A sieve analysis is accomplished on any type of non-organic or organic granular materials like sands, crushed rock, clays, granite, feldspars, coal, soil, an extensive range of manufactured powders, grain and seeds, down to a minimum size based on the perfect method.

Particles size distribution data is utilized to evaluate material size.

Basically, there exist five basic elements of importance:

1. test sieves
2. test sieve shakers
3. Sample materials and preparation

4. Running the test
5. Recording results and analysis

To learn how the test is performed, go through the following video tutorial.
