In this video tutorial, Mukesh Shah, the renowned civil engineer, has briefly explained how to measure the tiles quantities for cladding/dado at construction site.
It means finding out the quantities of tiles provided in the wall of kitchen, bathroom etc.
In the video, simple plan of a bed room is given. Now you have to determine the perimeter of the bed room.
Length of the one side = 1 meter + 4 meter (1 meter for door) = 5 meter
Length of another side = 6 meter
Length of another side = 2 meter
Length of another side = 3 meter
Length of another side = 3 meter
Length of another side = 3 meter
By summing up, we get = 22 meter
Now, cladding will be provided up to the height of the door.
Suppose, height of the door = 2.4 meter and length = 1 meter
Height of the window = 1.2 meter and length = 1.2 meter
Area of the room = Length x Height = 22 x 2.4 = 52.8 meter square
Now, you have to subtract the area taken by door and window
Area of door = Length x Height = 1 m x 2.4 m = 2.4 meter square
Area of window = Length x Height = 1.2 x 1.2 = 1.44 meter square
Total area of door & window = 3.84 meter square
After deducting from the area of room, we get 52.8 – 3.84 = 48.96 square meter
So, the tiles will be required for 48.96 square meter area
Now, the size of a single tile = 1 ft x 1 ft = 0.3 meter x 0.3 meter
So, area of a single tile = 0.09 meter square
So, no of tiles required = Total area / area of one tille = 48.96 / 0.09 = 544 nos.
So, total quantities of tiles will be required for cladding the room.
Suppose, wastage is taken as 5%
So, number of tiles with wastage = 544 + (5/100 x 544) = 571.2 = 572 numbers
