In this exclusive video tutorial, Mr. Sami Ullah, the renowned engineer teaches you how to estimate the quantity of materials in PCC floor.
Suppose, in the PCC floor there are three layers.
The first layer from bottom contains brick ballast with thickness 10 cm. Second layer is made of M20 grade concrete with thickness 10 cm in the ratio 1:2:4. The topping is made of cement and 6 mm stone chips. The thickness of topping is 4 cm in the ratio 1:2.
Suppose, the total area of floor is 30 sq/m.
The quantity for brick ballast should be calculated as follow :-
30 x 10/100 = 3 cu.m [10 is the thickness of brick blast]. It is divided with 100 to convert from meter to centimeter.
The wet volume of concrete will be determined as follow :-
30 x 10/100 = 3 cu.m
Now, this volume will be converted to dry volume :-
3 x 1.54 = 4.62 cu.m
We know, the ratio of concrete = 1:2:4 (cement : sand : aggregates) and the sum of ratio = 7
The quantity of cement = 1/7 x 4.62 = 0.65 cu.m
To convert it to bags = 0.65/0.035 = 18 bags
The quantity of sand = 2/7 x 4.62 = 1.31 cu.m
The quantity of crush = 4/7 x 4.62 = 2.62 cu.m
We know, the ratio of materials for topping = 1:2
The wet volume for topping materials = 30 x 4/100 = 12 cu.m (30 = total floor area)
The dry volume for topping materials = 1.2 x 1.54 = 1.84 cu.m
Under the above volume, the quantity of cement and stone chips will be determined as follow :-
The ratio is 1:2 and the sum of ratios = 3
The quantity of cement = 1/3 x 1.84 = 0.61 cu.m
To convert it to bags = 0.61/0.035 = 17 bags
The quantity of stone chips = 2/3 x 1.84 = 1.22 cu.m with size 6 mm
