How to work out cement and sand in plastering work

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial is based on material analysis of cement plaster. In this video, one can learn how to calculate two vital materials like cement and sand in plastering work. Cement is a useful binding material and sand is a fine aggregate.

The analysis is done in the following ways :-

To compute the total area of plaster
To compute wet volume of plaster. The calculation will be done by applying the following formula.
Wet volume = total plaster area x thickness of plaster
Dry volume of plaster is computed by applying the formula given below.
Dry volume = Wet volume x 1.27 (.27 means inclusion on 27% volume for dry materials)

To find out the volume, the following formula is used :-

Materials = (proportions of material) x (dry volume)/sum of ratio
Let plaster of ratio is taken as 1:3 (cement : sand)

The calculation is made on the basis of the following example :-

Plaster Area = 10000 sft
Cement Mortar Raio = 1:3
Density of plaster = ½” or (0.5’’)

Work out cement and sand for specified cement plaster.

Watch the following video tutorial to get the detailed process.
