Mortar Quantity for Blockwork

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial will guide you to compute the quantity of blocks and mortar in a building. Mortar means the quantity of cement and sand.

In a building more over 80% of partition work is done with the help of concrete blocks.

In this video, a drawing is taken where there are one column and one beam. The partition is provided with blocks. The distance between one column to other (length) is taken as 3 m or 10 ft and height of the column is also taken as 3m or 10 ft.

Here, the width of blocks is taken as 152 mm or 6 inches and length is taken as 405 mm or 16 inches and height is taken as 200 mm.

Initially you have to find out the total volume of the given area to determine how much blocks are required.

Total volume = Length x Height x Width of a block
= 3 x 3 x 0.152 = 1.368 cum

Volume of one block = Width x Length x Height = 0.152 x 0.405 x 0.2 = 0.012312 cum (after converting to meter)

Based on the above details, the quantity of blocks and mortar will be determined.
