Some useful tips to work out the volume of a hollow concrete column

In this construction article, get some useful tips which are useful for making estimate of volume concerning hollow concrete column easily and efficiently. The detailed calculation is shown with the following process :-

Lets assume the height of the column is 4 m and the inside radius of it is 0.2 m and outside radius is 0.5 m, the following formulas will be used to determine the volume of the Hallow column.

DIMENSIONS PROVIDED :-

H = 4 m.
R = 0.5 m.
r = 0.2 m.

Here,

H denotes Height of the hollow column.
R denotes Outside radius of the hollow column.
r denote Inside radius of the hollow column.

By putting the above values in the formula, the calculation is made as follow :-

SOLUTION:

Volume = (πR²h – πr²h)

= πh ( R² – r²)
= 3.14 x 4 ( 0.5² – 0.2²) [∵ π =3.14]
= 12.56 ( 0.25 – 0.04)
= 12.56 x 0.21
= 2.6376 m³

So, the volume of the hollow concrete column is 2.6376 m³
