This construction video is created to teach you how to work out quantity of steel in RCC slab.
Given below, the sample plan, containing the dimensions of the RCC slab. The Length of the slab is 5 meter and breadth is 3 meter.
Based on the above figures, the number of steel will be determined for the main bars and distribution bars. If the bars are arranged length wise, they are known as main bars. If the bars are arranged breadth wise they are known as distribution bars.
Among two bars, there is center to center distance as 15 cm or 0.15 m.
The following formula is used to determine the numbers of steels for main bars = L/c/c+1
= 5/0.15+1 = 34 numbers
The numbers of distribution bars can be determined with the following formula :-
L/c/c+1 = 3/0.15 = 21 numbers (length of distribution bar = 3)
To find out the total length of the main bars = Total numbers of main bars x 3 = 34 x 3 = 102 meter
To find out the total length of the distribution bars = Total distribution bars x 5 = 21 x 5 = 105 meter
