How to Calculate Brick Quantity

Construction Software

This construction video tutorial will teach you in detail how to calculate the total number of bricks in a wall.

To perform it, you should need the following data :-
Volume of the wall
Volume of standard brick

In order to compute the volume of the wall, you have to apply the following formula :-
Length of the wall (l) = 20 ft
Height of the wall (h) = 10 ft
Thickness of the wall (b) = 0.75 ft
Total Volume of wall (v) = l x h x b = 20 x 10 x 0.75 = 150 cubic feet

To compute the volume of brick, apply the following formula :-
Length of brick (l) = 9 inch = 0.75 ft
Breadth of brick (b) = 4.5 inch = 0.375 ft

Height of brick (h) = 3 inch = 0.25 ft
Therefore, total volume of brick (v) = l x b x h = 0.75 x 0.375 x 0.25 = 0.070 cubic feet

To get the total numbers of bricks, use the following formula :-
Volume of wall/volume of brick = 150/0.070 = 2142.85 = 2143 Nos (total numbers of bricks)

N.B. : You can assume 10% wastage of bricks.
